MC53 - Rank'd

WELCOME! to Coalition Condition, I’m your host Cory Ball, here with your pre-Horizons countdown! Thanks so much for joining us, remember to smash that like button, subscribe and hit that alarm bell for all notifications to stay up to date with all of our UGWC-related commentary, predictions, power rankings and countdowns!

We’re only three days out from the final show of the year, the greatest show of them all, it’s UGWC Horizons! Today, I’ll be counting down the top competitors appearing at this year’s penultimate pay per view!

First up, though, we’re going to run through a few ‘Dishonorable Mentions’ who didn’t quite make the top list!

Before we begin, folks, big disclaimer; we’re not affiliated with or sponsored by the Unified Global Wrestling Coalition.

Here we go!

Dishonorable Mentions

Kyra Johnson - Coming off win at Massive Melee, unfortunately Kyra’s biggest moment of the year has been bookended by multiple disappointing losses when gold was on the line. Don’t look for her to have much momentum heading into Horizons.

Travis Pierce - A promising mid-year hinted at a possible return to excellence for the Icon of Entertainment. Unfortunately, eliminating Lucy Wylde from the Run of the Mill would represent cashing in all his luck this year. Tune in to see Pierce get absolutely pummeled by Zane Scott.

Chuck Rydell - At this point, I still can’t find anyone who’s quite sure who this guy is. He seems like an overzealous Dave Rydell fan with half the charisma and a third of the drawing power. Let’s face it, that’s not saying much at all.

Konrad Raab - Perennial punching bag, the Iceman has shown an edge he never had before this year. He’s poised to blow up any day now, but I don’t think it’s going to be this year, not against this field of opponents.

Vespertine - It’s hard to disrespect a former Cross Hemisphere Champion, but since losing the strap to Dave Rydell, this Diva has kind of spiraled. Don’t expect her to factor into the triple threat much.

Zane Scott - Does this guy still work for UGWC? Everytime he returns from a leave, which is at least five times a year, we get a classic beatdown, so expect him to make a meal out of Travis Pierce. Then, expect to see him again around Battleground 2023.

Donovan Hastings - The Lord of Pain is the auto-include for any big event, but not for the reasons he’ll tell you. At this point, he’s a novelty act. Ever since his Centurion brought his epic World Championship run to a halt at the beginning of the year, Hastings hasn’t been anywhere close to relevant. He thinks this is going to be a show-stealing dream match, but everyone is going to schedule their bathroom break while these two senior citizens shove each other around.

JC - I’m never sure if this guy is actually a member of the roster or just a special act they put on from time to time. Pass.

Alright, before we kick off the list, have you ever wished you were a lot more important? Did you know you could pretend that some archaic, sort of made up Scottish tradition will allow you to give fifty bucks to a shady advertising company in exchange for a certificate they printed naming you a laird, lord, or lady? Do you understand that this is a souvenir gift that doesn’t actually confer the necessary peerage for you to gain Scottish nobility, and there’s no evidence that the advertising company that printed the certificate ever planted the tree they promised? Did you know your fifty dollars probably went to purchase the cheapest steel allowed to be used in mass producing Japanese kitchen knife knockoffs in China for another scam the advertising company also runs? If that sounds like the perfect gift for that person on your list that your feel obligated to get a Christmas gift for, even though you don’t like them very much, or that Secret Santa name you pulled and forgot about until the last minute, then go to establishmenttitles.com/CoalitionCondition for 20% off your gag gift today!

Now let’s get to it!

Top Ten Horizons Competitors

#10

Dark Destroyer - Ok, I know, I know he’s not competing, but he’s still more entertaining than any of the Dishonorable Mentions, and I’m still holding out hope that he’ll make an appearance.

#9

Rogan MacLean - One of the most dramatic character evolutions in UGWC history, and he manages to hold his own with the absolute sensation Lucy Wylde as his partner. Anyone else would be overshadowed, but she and The Dark Man only seem to improve one another through their relationship.

#8

Holden Orson - Holden has had several false starts in his UGWC career, but the most recent one has been his most promising yet. I don’t know that it would be enough to make the countdown, but his violent message to Rogan MacLean this past Synergy was one of the biggest impacts of the go home show!

#7

Dave Rydell - He’s held Cross Hemisphere, Conquest, and Cooperative gold recently, and he proves once again why he’s one of the best cooperative partners someone could ask for, perhaps rivaling even the Creative Director for team success. Wolf/Rydell will retain at Horizons, and look for Dave to springboard into the World Championship conversation in 2023.

#6

Ken Davison - Controversial pick here, I know, but I don’t think we’ve seen all of what Ken has to offer yet. He’s got a chip on his shoulder after a disappointing year, and this may be the event where he finally breaks through and shows us how he earned the ‘Godly’ moniker.

We’re up to the Top 5! Keep in mind, everyone, this is my personal opinion, and feel free to post your own Top 10 in the comments below! Here we go!

#5

Sebastian Everett-Bryce - Face it, folks, coming back from a possible retirement and running the most impressive Chaos Championship reign in the company’s 13 year history is no small feat. Sebastian has beaten everyone challenging him at Horizons, and carrying the crown through the new year will surprise absolutely no one!

#4

Montague Cervantes - The Showman is one of the most innovative and consistently entertaining competitors to have joined the roster in recent years. His domination of the first part of 2022 can’t be easily forgotten, and if anyone has a chance to end Seb’s historic run, it’s Monty.

#3

Ezra Wolf - UGWC veteran Ezekiel Pax’s protege is on an absolute tear this year. Current double champion, shining in one of the most promising up and coming cooperative teams, and slowly erasing our memories of his first lackluster debut in UGWC, Ezra Wolf is one of the most likable and easy to cheer for heroes competing today. I can promise you, Ezra is going to put a great big red bow on his coming out year.

#2

Lucy Wylde - Lucy has been a fan favorite for as long as I can remember, and anytime she gets a little momentum going, she always impresses. When Tempest won the Keeper of the Keys tournament and secured his choice for Horizons, there was zero doubt in anyone’s mind that he’d pick Lucy Wylde as his opponent. To pick someone else would have been an admission of doubt that he could stand up to her again. Lucy has been the focus of this year’s most dominant stable, a two time World Champion, and a spotlight performer at every single show she has competed on this year. If our number 1 pick somehow doesn’t walk away with Entertainment Professional of the Year, then Lucy is a shoo in.

I think you all know who’s at number 1, but before I reveal my top competitor at Horizons, just a reminder that you can become a Patron and, for only $5 a month, gain access to videos one week early, and access our portal where we interview UGWC stars live on our weekly podcast! Patron names will be listed through the end of the video!

#1

Tempest - Yes, the Spider King himself! LIsten, even when Tempest was out for most of the first half of the year, you could still feel his influence as the Astro Creeps dominated not just UGWC, but other promotions as well. There haven’t been very many days go by when someone in Tempest’s faction wasn’t holding  gold. King Freak has lined up stellar performances at Wrestlestock, Run of the Mill, Massive Melee, and Keeper of the Keys. There’s no doubt in my mind that he’s the Entertainment Professional of the Year, and I say we riot if he doesn’t win it. Tempest has his work cut out for him in an absolutely unprecedented battle to close out Horizons - a two out of three falls match that includes a cage match, a circus death match, and a Hell in a Cell! 2022’s biggest stars in one of the biggest matches we’ve ever seen, period. Tempest is the obvious choice for number one on our countdown.

Everyone, thank you so much for joining me today for this countdown, and don’t forget to join us next week for the UGWC 2022 Wrap Up. Patrons, we have an interview with outgoing Creative Director Jet Somers planned, so tune in for that on New Year’s Eve!

This is Cory Ball, and this has been Coalition Condition, peace!
